  • Get the Most Out of A Last Minute Fundraiser

Maybe it is the end of the school year for you, your group trip is fast approaching, or you need that last little push of profit. Whatever the reason, you may be in a rush to get in that last minute fundraiser. Have no fear! Not only do our orders ship out within 24 hours of ordering but we've got years of experience helping fundraising coordinators like yourself plan and get the most out of their last minute sales. Here are a few of our best tips for getting the most out of your last minute fundraiser:

Choose a Fundraiser With the Highest Profit

Going for the highest profit can be a good starting point to get the most out of each sale when you are in a time crunch. We have a large selection of items with up to 50% profit or higher, some of which are listed below, but also be sure to take the selling price into consideration. For example, our LED Flashlights are at 50% profit as are our $1 Chocolate Lover's Bars, but you make more per individual sale on the flashlights. Knowing how much profit you need to make within your time frame can help you to determine what price point would work best.
    Donation Dots® 87% profit
Large Chocolate Lover's Bars 60% profit
    LED Pocket Flashlights 50% profit

    Choose A Top Seller

Selecting a known top selling fundraiser is another great way to make fast sales and quick profit. If you've had fundraisers in the past, you may have an idea of what you've had the most success with. If you are new to fundraising or not sure where to start, we've listed some of our top selling varieties below as a starting point. Do a little scouting around to see if there are any other fundraisers happening at the same time you will be holding yours. See what those groups are/will be selling, that way you do not inadvertently put yourself in a sales competition and oversaturate your customer base with the same items.
    Supreme Selection®
    $1 Chocolate Bars
    Monster Variety

Making your fundraiser known to as many people as possible can only lead to more sales. Put up flyers at your organization/school/church, etc. You can also put sales flyers on the outside of your sellers' boxes, which you can download and print for free from our Tools section here. If you have a stationary setup at an event, make large poster signs to put up around you to attract customers and passersby.

    Broaden Your Customer Base

Supplement your individual sales with a group sale at an event. School/group sporting events, recitals, competitions, anything where there are spectators is a great opportunity to tap into for sales. If you plan to be set up all day or multiple days, have sellers sign up for time slots and rotate out. You can also contact local businesses and see if you can set up a table outside during weekend or prime traffic hours.

  • Top Questions

One of the things we enjoy doing most is answering your fundraising questions. Whether it is 1 or 100 questions, we are happy to answer all inquiries on anything fundraising. We can even assist you in setting up a fundraiser, but if you only have questions, no worries - our no-hassle fundraising experts are here for you. Below we've assembled some of our most frequently asked questions that come through our call center and online outlets:

    What is a case?

A case is the overall box/container that holds your items. You can find how many pieces are in each case on the product page for every variety we carry. In most cases, it is just one carrying box. Each case is meant for a single seller, so you would order the same number of cases that you have sellers.

    Is there a minimum order?

There is none. You can order one case or as many as you need for your group size. The profit charts on the variety product pages show increments, but these are for information only, not to suggest that these amounts are the only order sizes.

    How do the prizes work?

You earn prize points based on the amount of fundraising products you order from Old Fashion Candy. Typically, each case is worth one prize point, and prize points are listed on each product page. Prize points are automatically accumulated as you order so you can use them after each, individual fundraiser or save them up from multiple orders. Once each invoice has been paid in full, you will be mailed a letter notifying you of how many prize points you have earned. Prizes are listed in categories organized by number of prize points, which you can view here. To cash in your prize points you can call 1-800-500-1234 or visit us online here.

How do the Smart Snacks in School Rules affect my school fundraiser?

Candy and snacks can still be sold in schools by following the regulations, which you can find more information of here. We also offer the Smart Variety and the Choice Variety where every item meets all USDA standards to be sold on campus, during school hours. For other alternatives, our brochure and product fundraisers are also all safe to sell at school and have no restrictions against them.

Do I have to pay upfront?

We have a 30 day billing available. Most schools in the public school system have already been pre-approved with us. Some schools do require their teachers to use purchase orders.  You may want to check with your bookkeeper prior to ordering,  to see if this is a requirement of your school or state. For all other schools, groups or individuals, you may be approved for the 30 day billing. Contact us at 1-800-500-1234 or when ordering online select the 30-day bill option.  If you select this option, we may need additional information from you to see if you qualify.  We accept other forms of payment including credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal. If you call in your order, you can also send in a check or money order or pay with a check by phone.

    Do you accept returns?

We only accept unopened cases of non-food items that are in good condition. Food items are not accepted for return. You should call in advance to arrange your return. Additional inspection and restocking fees of $2.00 per case will be applied to all returned merchandise.

If you've got questions, please give us a call at 1-800-500-1234 or ask us on Facebook. Our fundraising experts are happy to answer any and all inquiries you have regarding the fundraising process, as well as our products.

  • Prom Fundraising Idea

Here is an easy prom fundraising idea. This is from a previous blog post.  We received many success stories from our customers, so we wanted to share it with you again.

It is PROM TIME! That means it is time to break out the decorations, formal attire, and some fundraising. Maybe you are head of the prom committee or need to do some springtime fundraising for a class trip or something, using prom as a basis for your fundraiser can really pay off. Here's a handy idea with our chocolate roses that can help boost your spring school fundraising:

    1. Download our printable sheet here of "will you go to prom with me" cards.
    2. Print out and cut apart cards (6 cards per 8.5x11 sheet, so you have no waste!). You can use any color paper but if you have card stock or a thicker paper your cards will hold up better.
    3. Hole punch each card in the middle at the top and using ribbon, tie one card onto each rose.  If you choose to, you can punch two holes close to each other so your card will sit more centered on the candy stick.
    4. The giver can write their potential prom date's name at the top and sign their name at the bottom on the dotted lines.

Now, you/your group can either pre-tie on all cards and ribbons to the rose or if you have a table setup, leave them loose and only tie them on as they are purchased. This way makes it easier for people to write their names on the cards. If you have a table set up, having pens on hand will also be helpful for purchasers to write their names on the tags.

If you use curling ribbon, you can curl the ends of the ribbons after they are tied to add some fun or simply tie it into a classic bow. Use your school colors, prom colors or just a bright and fun variety! Either way, your fundraiser is sure to be the hit of the school and not only bring in money for your cause but also spread some prom cheer!
