  • Ending Your Fundraiser With a Bang

    Whenever you kick-start a fundraiser, it starts out with a bang and lots of excitement and energy but can end with little but relief at the end. Make wrapping up your fundraiser just as exciting as the launch.

    Reward Participants
    Encourage the involvement and hard work with rewards. Create a goal chart at the start of your fundraiser and every few days have a seller color in what your group is up to in sales. It will help keep the momentum going and keep your group encouraged by showing their progress and achievement. You can also give small awards to all of the sellers and/or an award to top sellers or other types of prize winners. Remember you earn prize points on every case you purchase from Old Fashion Candy. You can see our complete prize selection here.

    Just like holding a launch party to get your group jazzed up, why not throw a wrap party to end things on a high note! Have a pizza or ice cream party for your group to reward all of their hard work. If you are having a school-wide fundraiser, hold a wrap-up assembly for everyone. During this time, announce any of your top sellers and prize winners. Be sure to announce what you'll do with the money raised. Taking photos during these events can be good to put in letters or emails for volunteers or parents.

    Gratitude - thank parents and volunteers
    Don't forget about parents, teachers or other volunteers who helped you on your fundraising journey. Especially if you are working with younger children or are having product that needs delivering, parents or other adults will likely be doing most of the work. Volunteers feel extra commitment and excitement when their contributions are appreciated and recognized. Thank them during your end of fundraiser celebration by having sellers give them a round of applause. You could also mention them in signs or letters/emails you send out following the close of the fundraiser.

    Get Feedback
    Keep your fundraiser light-hearted throughout. Know that everyone is working towards the same goal and that you'll likely need these volunteer's help again during another fundraiser. Ask those involved their opinion on how things went to see what went well and what could use improving for next time. Get any tips from them that may be helpful to share with other volunteers.

    If you keep your fundraiser light-hearted, fun, and organized from start to finish then you will be sure to maintain excitement and drive for all those involved.

  • Sweet Valentine Fundraising

    Welcome 2015! A new year and a new semester bring new ideas for fundraising! In previous posts, we've emphasized the benefit of coordinating your fundraiser with a holiday theme, and Valentine's Day is no different. In fact, it is one of the better holidays to coordinate with your candy fundraiser. Items like chocolate bars, chocolate roses, and lollipops are great little treats to make into candy grams that friends can give to one another or a sweetheart. Boost sales even more by adding some valentine's flair with our free download & print chocolate bar wraps and lollipop tags.

    Once you've downloaded the wraps, follow the instructions to cut them apart. We recommend having a table or location setup when selling these to make the bar wrapping easier. Once your customer has selected their chocolate bar, they can select a wrap design and then you/your group helpers can place and adhere that wrap around the bar for the customer.

    If you are considering pre-wrapping your chocolate bars prior to selling, keep a few things in mind:
    - If you are selling a single chocolate bar flavor, make sure you have a sign(s) stating they are chocolate bars
    - If you are selling multiple flavors of chocolate bars, you may want to wrap each flavor in its own design so you and your customers can easily distinguish between them or keep them in labeled boxes by flavor

    Don't worry, we have not forgotten about chocolate roses or lollipops! You can download and print our fun valentine's tags to use. Follow the how-to instructions on our previous blog post here. Similar to the chocolate bars, you can pre-attach the tags to the lollipops or let your customers choose the tag they wish for you to attach. You can go even further with your lollipops and create a festive and fun bouquet. Group several pops together and secure with ribbon of your choice. Be sure to price these accordingly, adding up the selling price of each item you include in the bouquet. Further instructions on making the lollipop bouquets can be found here.

    We've also created valentine's themed sale signs for you to use in addition to the tags and wraps. Download and print these $1 signs or $2 signs to stick up on your table setup. You can even place them on or inside candy or snack fundraising boxes as a decorative and informative eye catcher.
