With summertime comes great weather, and with great weather people are out and about more often. Creating or scheduling your fundraiser around summer activities and taking advantage of the weather can add a much needed boost to your fundraiser and your profit margins. Here are some ideas on how you can capitalize on the summer season:

TRIVIA NIGHTS
Trivia nights are great any time of year and summer is no exception. Your group may be familiar with hosting trivia nights; if not, you can contact local restaurants, lodges, churches, etc. who may host them or have available space for you to schedule your own. At the trivia night, setup a table for use as a snack bar. This allows your patrons to have something to munch on and also brings in extra profits. Varieties such as the Summer Snack and Summer Supreme are great options because they offer a large variety of snack options for your guests to select from. You can also try offering the larger boxed items such as the Summer Theater Variety which are good for sharing, and bring in more profit.

MOVIE NIGHT
If you work with a church, school or scout group that has access to an auditorium or large space then you have an ideal space to host a movie night. Advertise with yard signs placed outside the building where the movie night will be hosted as well as at local hot spots and busy intersections. Signs should be out for at least a week and a half prior to the date so as to ensure good exposure and turnout. At your movie night, setup a table near the entrance to advertise movie snacks. Larger packaged items like those in the Summer Theater and Summer Mega will make guests feel like they are actually at the movies. Having Donation Dot Cards (*link) can also be plus for those who opt not purchase snacks, but can still want to fund your cause.

CAR WASH
Holding a car wash is a classic summer fundraiser. They are relatively easy to put together and many hands make light work if you are the head of a group or team. Spice up your car wash with a sweet edition by offering a treat while they wait or as an alternative to getting their vehicle washed. Variety boxes like Welch's Fruit Snacks and Airheads have fun fruity flavors, perfect for a summer treat.

Prom Fundraising

Roses

It's PROM TIME! That means it's time to break out the decorations, formal attire and some fundraising. Maybe you're head of the prom committee or need to do some spring time fundraising for a class trip or something, using prom as a basis for your fundraiser can really pay off. Here's a handy idea that can help boost your spring school fundraising:

ASK ME TO PROM ROSES
- Download our printable sheet here of "will you go to prom with me" cards.
- Print out and cut apart cards (6 cards per 8.5x11 sheet so you have no waste!). You can use any color paper but if you have card stock or a thicker paper your cards will hold up better.
- Hole punch each card in the middle at the top and using ribbon, tie one card onto each rose.  If you choose to, you can punch two holes close to each other so your card will sit more centered on the candy stick.
- The giver can write their potential prom date's name at the top and sign their name at the bottom on the dotted lines.
Now, you/your group can either pre-tie on all cards and ribbons to the rose or if you have a table setup, leave them loose and only tie them on as they are purchased (this may also make it easier for people to write their names on the cards). If you have a table set up, having pens on hand will also be helpful for purchasers to write their names on the tags.
If you use curling ribbon you can curl the ends of the ribbons after they are tied to add some fun or simply tie it in a classic bow. Use your school colors, prom colors or just a bright and fun variety! Either way, your fundraiser is sure to be the hit of the school and not only bring in money for your cause but also spread some prom cheer!

Shout it out!

No matter what you are fundraising for or how many people are in your group (or if you are an individual), even in fundraising, advertising is everything. You need to reach out to potential buyers and supporters so you can makes sales or collect donations to help fund your group/activities. Advertising in a visual way can help make an impact on your sales in a very profitable way and it doesn't have to cost you a lot of time or money. The simplest way is to make signs. Maybe your group has a table at a local event or outside a local business, you'll be leaving a box in the lunch room at work or just selling directly out of the box. A compelling and informative sign can help draw buyers into your cause and purchasing from you. The signs don't have to big either, they can be a standard 8.5x11 piece of computer paper and, with a few minutes, can become a great sales tool.

Sign Tips:

- Put the group or purpose you are fundraising for at the very top like "Fundraising for Prom" or "Senior High Fundraiser." You want people to know immediately they are supporting a good fundraising cause

- Make it easy to read. Clean handwriting or typing it out on a computer so your message is clear

- If your items are all the same price, list the price

- A picture is worth a thousand words so use one or two images of your group or a stock photo to help reinforce your message.

- Have access to a copier? Make your sign all black type and print it out on neon or lighter colored paper to give it a punch without the cost of color copies.

- Keep your sign simple. Don't feel like you have to clutter it with tons of information, you want it to be a quick and easy read

If you print your signs on a standard paper size you can tape them to the inside lid of the box so it's easy to read when propped open on a table. If you are doing a table setup or larger event you can make large signs on banner paper or poster board. If your group contains kids, this is a great way to get them all involved by having them decorate and make the signs.

To help get you started we have some pre-designed sign templates you can fill your groups name in on here: $1 signs or $2 signs.
